How to check a video for deepfakes
1. Upload a short clip
Drag in an MP4, MOV or WEBM file of up to 30 seconds and 50 MB. If the video is on social media, download or screen-record the part you want to check.
2. Run the analysis
The checker samples one frame every 2 seconds and scores each frame for AI generation and for face swapping. A 30-second clip is about 15 frames.
3. Read the result
You get a verdict (likely real, uncertain, or likely AI-generated or deepfake), an AI-generated score, a face-swap score and a timeline that marks the timestamps of suspicious frames.
4. Decide what to do next
Treat the result as one signal. Look for the original source, compare with footage from trusted channels, and ask the person or brand shown before sharing or acting on the clip.
What the free video checker detects, and its limits
What it looks for:
- AI-generated video: frames produced by text-to-video and image-to-video models rather than a camera.
- Face-swap deepfakes: a real person's face replaced or re-animated with someone else's, where a face is visible in the frame.
Limits to keep in mind:
- It analyses the picture only. It does not check the soundtrack for cloned voices.
- It samples one frame every 2 seconds, so a manipulation that appears only briefly between samples can be missed.
- Heavy compression, low resolution, small or turned-away faces and screen recordings reduce accuracy.
- Scores are probabilities from AI models, not proof. A clean result doesn't guarantee a video is authentic, and a high score is not legal evidence.
- Clips are limited to 30 seconds and 50 MB, and each visitor can run 2 free video checks per day.
When to run a deepfake video check
- A viral clip of an executive or founder that says something out of character.
- A video ad or endorsement that uses your spokesperson or ambassador without approval.
- User-submitted footage that a newsroom or comms team needs to verify before publishing.
- Video messages and interview recordings in hiring, investor or payment conversations that feel off.
- A clip sent to you by a colleague asking whether it is real.
How DeepWall monitoring goes beyond one-off checks
A free checker answers "is this clip I already have fake?" It can't tell you that a fake video of you exists somewhere you aren't looking. DeepWall's deepfake detection software is built for that second job: it watches newly uploaded videos for your face and voice and alerts you.
1. Enroll your face and voice
Upload 3 to 5 photos of the person to protect, plus a 30-second voice sample. DeepWall turns them into a reference profile that new content is compared against. You can update or retrain a profile at any time.
2. Continuous scanning of new uploads
DeepWall scans newly uploaded videos on the platforms it monitors in the background, around the clock. You don't paste in links or upload files.
3. Frame-by-frame matching
Faces in each video are matched frame by frame against your enrolled photos, and the audio track is compared against your voice sample. Each match gets a confidence score.
4. Alerts and evidence
You set a confidence threshold from 0 to 100%. Matches above it trigger an alert by email, SMS, push, Slack or webhook, depending on your plan. Professional and Executive plans add a timestamped evidence PDF and takedown-request templates.
DeepWall is designed to alert you within minutes of a matching video being detected; actual timing depends on the platform, crawling conditions and your threshold.
Platforms DeepWall monitors for fake videos
DeepWall monitors newly uploaded videos on YouTube, X, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and news sites with embedded video. The Starter plan covers YouTube and X; Professional and Executive include all seven sources. See pricing for the full plan comparison.

Deepfake video detection FAQ
How do you detect a deepfake video?
Detection models look at individual frames for signs of AI generation and face swapping, then combine the frame scores. You can run a short clip through the free checker on this page. To find fake videos you don't know about yet, DeepWall monitors newly uploaded videos for your face and alerts you when a match passes your threshold.
Is this deepfake video checker free?
Yes. It's free with no sign-up. Each visitor can check 2 videos per day, up to 30 seconds and 50 MB each.
How accurate is deepfake video detection?
No detection method is perfect. Scores are probabilities, and accuracy drops with heavy compression, low resolution and small faces. Use the result as one signal alongside the source of the video and other checks, not as proof.
What happens to the video I upload?
The clip is held in temporary storage only while it is analysed and is deleted as soon as the analysis finishes; abandoned uploads are removed automatically. It is sent to our detection provider for analysis, and the provider deletes files after processing. We don't use your clip for anything else.
Does the checker detect cloned voices in a video?
No. The free checker analyses the picture only. DeepWall's paid monitoring compares the audio track of monitored videos with your 30-second voice sample to flag cloned voices.
How is the free checker different from DeepWall monitoring?
The checker analyses one clip you already have. DeepWall monitoring scans newly uploaded videos on up to seven sources for your face and voice, alerts you when it finds a likely deepfake, and on Professional and Executive plans provides evidence exports and takedown templates.
Which platforms does DeepWall monitor for fake videos?
YouTube, X, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit and news sites with embedded video. The Starter plan covers YouTube and X; Professional and Executive include all seven sources.
How quickly will I know about a fake video of me?
DeepWall is designed to alert you within minutes of a matching video being detected on a monitored platform. Actual timing depends on platform availability, crawling conditions and your confidence threshold.
